FAQ About CBD
What is CBD?
CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is one of the many cannabinoids found in cannabis plants (currently, we know of at least 113 different unique cannabinoids). Cannabidiol can be found in multiple types of cannabis plants, including industrial hemp plants. While CBD can be sourced from multiple types of cannabis plants, at Mosaic Wellness, we only carry CBD products that contain hemp-derived CBD.

Will CBD get me “high?”
CBD does not provide any psychoactive effects, so it does not make you feel “high.” CBD is one of the two major cannabinoids found in cannabis hemp and cannabis hemp plants. CBD often confused for the other major cannabinoid, THC. THC does have a psychoactive effect, while CBD does not.
What is the endocannabinoid system? How is it related to CBD?
When you read or hear about CBD, you may find that the term “endocannabinoid system” is used quite a bit. All mammals (including humans) have an endocannabinoid system that contains cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids, and enzymes that produce and break down cannabinoids. The purpose of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is to respond to the natural cannabinoids present within the body and create homeostasis and balance within the body.
You may hear about the ECS when you learn about CBD because there is some recent science that suggests that the ECS responds to external cannabinoids, including CBD. According to the National Institute of Health, cannabinoids such as CBD may be able to positively effect the ECS.
What are the health benefits of CBD?
Due to United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines, we cannot advise that you use CBD for any specific medical purpose. Currently, there are no over-the-counter CBD products that are FDA-approved to treat any health issue. While you may hear some people say they’ve tried CBD for things like pain relief, anxiety, or improved sleep, the research on how CBD may affect well-being is still very new.
Will CBD cause a problem if I use prescription medications?
CBD may sometimes interact with certain prescription medications. We always advise that you consult with your general practitioner before trying CBD products or any supplemental dietary products, especially if you take medications for a serious medical condition. Follow your doctor’s advice regarding whether or not you should try CBD.
